چکیده

A novel formulation for the linear buckling analysis of multilayered shells is presented. High-order equivalent-single-layer shell theories based on through-the-thickness expansion covariant components displacement field are employed. The novelty regards governing equations solution via implicit-mesh discontinuous Galerkin method. It a high-order accurate numerical technique representation among mesh elements and use suitably defined boundary integrals to enforce continuity at inter-element interfaces as well conditions. Owing its nature, it can be naturally employed with nonconventional meshes. In this work, combined implicitly technique, whereby modeling domain constructed by intersecting an easy-to-generate background grid level set function representing cutouts. Several examples considered loads plates modeled different characterized various materials, geometry, conditions, obtained results compared literature finite-element solutions, they demonstrate accuracy robustness proposed approach.

Axial buckling analysis of an isotropic cylindrical shell using the meshless local Petrov-Galerkin method

In this paper the meshless local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) method is implemented to study the buckling of isotropic cylindrical shells under axial load. Displacement field equations, based on Donnell and first order shear deformation theory, are taken into consideration. The set of governing equations of motion are numerically solved by the MLPG method in which according to a semi-inverse method, ...

Analysis of a Discontinuous Galerkin Method for Koiter Shell

Abstract. We present an analysis for a mixed finite element method for the bending problem of Koiter shell. We derive an error estimate showing that when the geometrical coefficients of the shell mid-surface satisfy certain conditions the finite element method has the optimal order of accuracy, which is uniform with respect to the shell thickness. Generally, the error estimate shows how the acc...

A Discontinuous Galerkin Method for the Naghdi Shell Model

Abstract. We propose a mixed discontinuous Galerkin method for the bending problem of Naghdi shell, and present an analysis for its accuracy. The error estimate shows that when components of the curvature tensor and Christoffel symbols are piecewise linear functions, the finite element method has the optimal order of accuracy, which is uniform with respect to the shell thickness. Generally, the...

Locally implicit discontinuous Galerkin method for time domain electromagnetics

In the recent years, there has been an increasing interest in discontinuous Galerkin time domain (DGTD) methods for the solution of the unsteady Maxwell equations modeling electromagnetic wave propagation. One of the main features of DGTD methods is their ability to deal with unstructured meshes which are particularly well suited to the discretization of the geometrical details and heterogeneou...
